4 Video Installations in the gallery halls
Fish talk or “mute as a fish”
Cyber Installation
Fresh fish, video projection, the global internet network
Drawing from pop art traditions with the idea of “returning to reality”, Fish talk combines the unified style of anime with the realism of Snyders’ still lifes, while allowing its silent heroes to speak, borrowing information from internet blogs in real-time.
Informer
Video, mechanisms.
“There’s no retrieving a word once spoken,” goes the folk wisdom. Apparently, this saying was about the oral genre, but what about words in the age of information technology? The global internet network has made each of us an informant, whether we like it or not. An innocent email message you send to a friend can be used for advertising purposes, automatically making you a participant in a kind of informer of the information superpower. And if in the last century the roles of informer, spy, agent were considered offensive or negative, today we don’t even think that we have unconsciously become part of the system.
In the Shade of an Olive tree (Dedicated to Nina Zakharovna Kunina.)
Видео-инсталляция
2007
The interactive video installation uses the play of sunlight as its visual material. The capabilities used in the installation “In the Shadow of the Olive” also reflect the logic of contrast, touch, “reversibility”. According to the theory of Vladimir Vasilievich Sterligov – “space penetrates space”. The viewer entering the circle of light participates in creating the image – transported on an associative level to a world suggested by the video and audio series. The lace-like shadow of an olive tree, the rustle of leaves, a mosaic floor, and the power of imagination will transport you to Greece, where the glints on marble of ancient sculpture play just as they do on your hand caught in the beam of the projector.
Timeless
Video Sculpture
A moment in time – a point on the timeline. Events that belong to one moment in time are referred to as simultaneous. In scientific models, a moment in time corresponds to the state of the system (instantaneous state).
Wikipedia
The history of a family as remembered by an old dining table. Changing generations, styles, weekdays, holidays… Conversations, music, creaking doors, knitting needle taps, background noises from the street… Images and events are mixed in time, but essentially, nothing changes except the date on the calendar…
