Traditionally, for the twelfth year in a row, at the end of December, American multimedia artist Anna Frants presents her new project from the “Phantom Dreams” series to the cultural community of Saint Petersburg in the halls of the gallery. The project was realized in collaboration with the Cyland MediaArt Lab (Cyland MediaArt Lab).

CYFEST, international festival of art and technology, for the first time in Italy

The XI edition of the Russian festival arrives in Caserta, after New York,
St. Petersburg, Beijing and Brighton.

On June 22, 2018, CYFEST will arrive at the majestic eighteenth-century Reggia di Caserta in Italy, the largest royal residence in the world and one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. In the outstanding baroque rooms, art and technology will dialogue with ancient classical visions. Italian and Russian artists will explore the theme “Weather Forecast: Digital Cloudiness”.

11th CYFEST in St. Petersburg, Russia

This year, CYFEST is partnering with Lumen to exhibit in St. Petersburg 2016 Lumen Prize Gold Award winner Hyperplanes of Simultaneity by Fabio Giampietro and Alessio de Vecchi and the 2017 Founders Award, Slide to Expose by by Nicole Ruggiero, Molly Soda, and Refrakt alongside a showreel of selected moving image works.

The human being is constantly looking for a comfort zone. Changes induce anxiety and a desire to stick to the already known, familiar and comfortable. We suggest to treat changes in the realm of the digital technologies, which became integrated to our mundane life, as if they were the weather patterns. As something that is beyond our control, but what directly affects our routine.

The Proxima project (from Latin, meaning ‘‘nearest’’) unites artists which carry out observations of the world around. The represented works are all based on an attempt to get closer to things via various repetitive actions. The flow of imitations, the strive to recreate a kind of habitual landscape expose the fact that the perception of the nearest — objects and time — is ever mediated. We are only able to grasp fragmentary, to get close selectively and if doing so unable to recognize.
